The young fashion designers in Manipur are using ethnic designs in their designs to promote the state’s rich tradition and ethnicity.
The designers showcased their work in the second edition of Ethnical Fashion Show held in Imphal.
The theme of the event was ‘Walk Till You Die’.
The event, organized by RAVA, was aimed at promoting the local talent in the state.
A total of eight Manipuri designers showcased the fusion of ethnic and modern outfits. The collections included bridal attires, handloom outfits, modern designs and ready to wear casual garments.
Kennedy Oinam, the event manager, said that one of the objectives of the event was to promote the young models, designers and transgenders in the society.
“We are giving a great opportunity to the models and transgenders so that they can walk the ramp together with equal ethics,” Oinam said.
Memcha Devi, a model participating in the event, said that she aspires to become a professional model.
Songs and other cultural programmes were also performed at the event. Linda Nikkhaiyu, a young singer, enthralled the audience with her lively performance. Later, another young folk singer, Rosy Yumnam, also entertained the crowd with her singing.
Benju Oinan, a model, expressed happiness after participating in the event.
“I feel good to be part of this event. I always participate in every fashion show but this one is different and I feel excited,” Oinam said.
