Imphal, June 22:

Youth’s Forum for Protection of Human Rights (YFPHR) expressed strong dissatisfaction with the Tengnoupal Police Station for its failure to arrest a child rapist namely Charanga Koyaingam of Lamlong Khullen Village of Machi Sub-Div since the commissioning of the crime on the 12th of May, 2021 at around 6:30 pm.

A statement of the forum said that a written complaint was submitted on the 15th of May, 2021 by the eldest sister of the victim mentioning that her younger sister was raped by the said accused person at his residence  and requested the police to take up legal action. Concerning the same FIR was lodged, however, the said accused person is yet to be arrested till date.

It has been more than 37 days, the accused person is roaming scot free and the Tengnoupal Police Station is not able to arrest the said accused person which is very unfortunate.

The Forum urged the Manipur State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, DGP and CWC Tengnoupal District to make an urgent intervention to arrest the accused person at the earliest.
