YAS Employees Association suspends strike following government action

The Youth Affairs & Sports Employees Association (YASEA) has suspended its ongoing strike and agitation following government action on its demand concerning the posting of the Joint Director in the Department.

The Department of Personnel & Administrative Reforms, through an order dated August 10, partially modified its earlier transfer and posting order of July 27, withdrawing the additional charge of Joint Director, Youth Affairs & Sports.

The Association appreciated the Youth Affairs & Sports Minister for meeting its representatives, hearing their concerns and assuring appropriate action, which was subsequently followed by the government order.

YASEA said the suspension was made in good faith to allow normal functioning of the department and sports and youth-related activities to resume.

However, it clarified that the suspension did not mean withdrawal of its concerns, particularly regarding the post of Joint Director (Administration), YAS, under the Manipur Civil Service cadre. The Association said it would submit a detailed memorandum of demands and suggestions for administrative reforms and better functioning of the department.

YASEA said it remained committed to constructive dialogue with the government in the interest of employees, sportspersons and the youth of Manipur.
