Denouncing the act of attacking to a group of people who were on their way to home after attending a marriage ceremony at Yairipok Tulihal area by the suspected bandh supporters, all the shops of Yairipok Bazar remained closed and Yairipok Imphal bound transport service was suspended.
Condemning the attack, K. Gopal, president of All Yairipok Winger Association, said that the transporters went to transport the marriage party as no restrictions had been experienced earlier on religious ceremonies, health care service and other emergency services in any kind of bandh. He also demanded to arrest those who involved in the incident.
All Yairipok Winger Venture and Maxima Owner’s Association also appealed not to repeat such kind of incident in future.
Sources said that at least three persons were injured when the suspected bandh supporters attacked the marriage party by pelting stones and hurling petrol bombs near Yairipok Tulihal Azad High School at around 7.10 pm yesterday. Besides, the rear portion of a vehicle was also damaged in the attack. The three injured persons have been identified as Thangjam Memma Devi (50), Thangjam Maniton (55) and Wangjam Roni Devi (20). All of them are from Ngamukhong Tera Urak under Yairipok Police Station of Imphal East.
