Yai School of Artistes launches welfare fund for aged artistes

The Yai School of Artistes today launched the Yai School of Artistes Welfare Fund aimed at providing financial assistance to aged artistes from the Yaiskul Assembly Constituency.
Addressing media persons at the Manipur Press Club, Director Khwairakpam Bishwamittra stated that the institution had been formally registered in October 2025. He informed that the school had already completed its first batch of a six-month diploma course covering theatre, cine arts and public speaking.
He further stated that, in accordance with its registered memorandum, the institution had initiated the Artistes Welfare Fund. In this connection, he informed that Thokchom Satyabrata Singh, Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, is serving as the Chief Patron of the fund.
Khwairakpam Bishwamittra added that the welfare fund would initially extend support to artistes above the age of 60 who are facing health-related issues. He also informed that the beneficiaries would include artistes from the Yaiskul Assembly Constituency, including 14 recipients of the Manipur State Kala Awards from the constituency.
