Youths Action Committee for Protection of Indigenous People (YACPIP) expressed strong opposition to the action of the Government of India for going against the interest of the Indigenous People of North East by passing the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 both in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha beside several opposition from the people as well as the elected representatives of the people.

“We fear of entering into an era of “Elected Dictatorial System” in this so call largest democratic country in the World”, a statement signed by L Gulshan, President of the Committee said.

The committee also expressed condemnation to the action of supporting CAB by the Member of Parliament both in Upper and Lower house of all the state of North East besides knowing the fact that CAB will have serious impact on the Indigenous People inhabited in the region.

It further condemn the action of MANPAC for fooling the people by weakening the movement of the CSOs and giving a wrong impression to the general public which is of serious concern and a serious attention needed.

YACPIP however welcome the Inner Line Permit System, but said that rejoicing at this early stage while the violence is at its peak in Tripura and Assam is not a wise step of the people of Manipur and the Government.

“Now is the time to stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Tripura and Assam as it will have a serious impact on the Indigenous People of Tripura, Assam and its neighboring states”, the statement said.

The statement of the YACPIP further said that the committee will continue to stand in solidarity and support the movement against the CAB, 2019 and shall stand united to fight against the system which goes against the interest of the Indigenous People of the region.

YACPIP called upon the Government of India to act accordingly with the interest of the Indigenous People but not against the interest of the people. We fear that the interest behind the CAB is Genocidal in nature after prolonged violence committed by the state armed forces under the AFSPA, 1958.

The YACPIP also appealed the people to stand firm and resist with the “Elected Dictatorial System” to protect the IPs and initiate non cooperation movement with the outsiders from capturing our administrations and others.
