The 24th World Suicide Prevention Day was observed at Lamjao High School today under the theme, “Changing the Narrative on Suicide, Start the Conversation,” with the programme organised by the District Health Society and District Mental Health Programme, Kakching.
Chief Medical Officer and District Mission Director, District Health Society, Kakching, Dr Thaodem Rajen attended the programme as chief guest, while Huidrom Jayenta, Headmaster-in-Charge of Lamjao High School, attended as President.
Dr Khangembam Gopeshwar, District Nodal Officer of the District Mental Health Programme, Kakching; Dr Elangbam Kiran, Medical Officer, AAM PHC Hiyanglam; and N. Debendro, Designated Officer and Food Safety Administrator, attended as guests of honour.
As part of the programme, prizes were distributed to students who secured positions in a drawing competition. Teachers and students also took a collective pledge to promote suicide prevention.
