World Population Fortnight Observation kicks off in Chandel

Chandel, July 11: District Health Society (DHS) Chandel organised Observation of World Population Fortnight under the theme “Khushhal parivar ka mantar, Do Bachao Mein teen saal ka antar” at Multi Purpose Hall of District Hospital Chandel today.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Mission Director DHS Chandel Dr. Romy Ngoru, Rogi Kalayan Samiti (RKS) Monitoring Chairman of Chandel District Hospital H. Kobor and District Program Manager of National Health Mission Chandel Jasha Premi graced the inaugural function as the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and Functional President respectively.
Speaking as the Chief Guest of the inaugural function,  Dr. Romy Ngoru, CMO Chandel said that India is the second most populous country in the world next to China. And we are facing the problems of population explosion in India since the past few decades.
She further maintained that unlike China where there is one child policy, there is no such stringent law in India to control population. If the present trends of population growth remained uncheck, India’s population will exceed China in 2026.
As such, the government felt the need to check the growth of population and launched several programmes to control population in the country.  Under such program, the government provide facilities of Free Sterilisation Surgery, distribution of condoms and contraceptive pills, added Dr. Romy
The Chief Medical Officer also told that we should inform others about the government’s programs and encourage them to avail such facilities provided by the government in order to check rapid growth of Population.
While speaking at the function, Chandel District Hospital’s RKS Monitoring Chairman H. Kobor also said that happiness lies in a Small family where a parent has not more than two or three Children. And if a parent adopts to deliver a child at least after the gap of 3 years, it will not only help in controlling birth rate but it will also make a our small family as a happy family, he added.
He also further maintained that as a part of the fortnight observation of World Population, sterilization surgery will be conducted from July 11-24 under the guidance of specialist doctors in the District Hospital. And incentives will also be given to both the individuals who got the sterilize surgery and the ASHA’s who bring them, he added.
