The World Mental Health Day 2025 was observed today at Pole Star College, Hiyanglam, Wabagai, under the theme “Access to Service – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies.” The event was jointly organised by the District Health Society Kakching and the District Mental Health Programme (DMHP) Kakching.
Kherdananda Potsangbam, SDO Kakching, attended the function as the Chief Guest, Dr. Thoudem Rajen, Chief Medical Officer and District Mission Director, District Health Society Kakching, as President. Dr. Elangbam Gopal, Principal of Pole Star College, Dr. Khangenbam Gopeshwar, District Nodal Officer of DMHP Kakching, and Oinam Pushpa, District Programme Manager Kakching, attended as Guests of Honour.
As part of the observation, a cycle rally was organised from Wabagai Lamkhai Bazar to Pole Star College, Hiyanglam, which was participated by members of the DMHP and ASHA workers.
Chief Guest Kherdananda Potsangbam highlighted that around 3,500 internally displaced persons (IDPs) are currently taking shelter in relief camps under District Administration in Kakching district. He said that under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner Kakching and the District Health Society, continuous efforts are being made to assess their needs and conduct awareness programmes to ensure their mental well-being.
