World Malaria Day observed

World Malaria Day 2026 was observed today at the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Imphal West Complex with great enthusiasm and participation from health officials and staff. The programme was organized under the global theme “Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can, Now We Must.”
K Jadumani, Additional District Magistrate, Imphal West, who graced the event as Chief Guest, highlighted the importance of collective action, community awareness, and sustained efforts to eliminate malaria. He stressed that with strengthened surveillance, early diagnosis, and timely treatment, malaria elimination is achievable.
The programme was presided over by President Dr Ng Dayabati Devi, Chief Medical Officer, Imphal West. In her address, she emphasized the district’s ongoing initiatives in malaria prevention, including vector control measures, distribution of insecticide-treated bed nets, and awareness campaigns at the grassroots level.
Guest of Honour Dr W Hemolata, District AIDS Control Officer (DACO), Imphal West, spoke on the importance of integrated health services and inter-programme coordination to strengthen public health outcomes.
The observation included awareness sessions, dissemination of IEC materials, and reaffirmation of commitment by health workers and stakeholders towards achieving a malaria-free society.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge to intensify efforts and ensure that no one is left behind in the fight against malaria.
