Women committee of UNMM condemns posting of insanity comments towards women community at Social Networking site

Women committee, (WC) of United NGO’s Mission Manipur, UNMM expressed strong condemnation for the post which was posted on social media i.e., Facebook on 30th October 2020 stating- “when I proposed her, she rejected my proposal. I want to buy a woman. So, how much it cost?” Expressing such words on social media which are unpleasant to the ear shows that women are something which money can buy, ‘NO IT CANNOT’ and it clearly shows that culprit is uneducated. Being as a woman, women committee feel ashamed of it. The Women Committee of the UNMM term such act as a savagely cruel committed to women.
The statement said that the ruling government had promised many a times to safeguard the women and girl child of the state.
“ Accordingly, we heartily urge all the concern authority(ies), Government of Manipur to take up necessary measures to sentence the culprit or to bring a solution to ensure that such incidents do not take place in the near future. We further request to the Cyber crime unit of Manipur, Manipur State Women Commission (MSWC) and Manipur State Human Rights Commission (MSHRC) to look into the matter and investigate immediately of all cyber related cases/crimes against women and girl child happening in Manipur now and then.
“Women and girls are using the internet more than ever to stay connected with the world but they are also the targets for online violence in form of physical threats, cyber stalking, trolling,defamation and hate speech, public shaming etc.
“Society needs to understand that a Woman is a key to the survival of human species. When the status of women improves only then the quality of life improves for everyone in the society. The future of women is bright and flourishing. Today’s women are being boosted up to do better in their areas of interest by family members (especially after marriage). The journey has begun, and it will continue in the future”, the statement signed by Monica Chanu WC Coordinator, UNMM said.
The UNMM (WC) has appealed all the concern authorities to participate and kind cooperation to overcome such heinous cases/crimes to women and girl child in the state and save our future generation.
