A Woman activist was denied access to Sendra Resort by the security personnel as there was a private party for a DIG.
Noted women activist, Ch Urmila based in Bangalore went to Sendra Resort on last weekend as a tourist, however she was stopped by the security personnel deployed at the gate from entering the Resort as there was a private party hosted for the VIPS and the DIG. The security personnel told her that no one can enter except VVIP.
Reacting over the indifference attitude of the security personnel, Ch Urmila posted on Facebook page, “The common man in Manipur is treated like muck while the VVIPs have the sole privilege to public places! While Hotel Classic has brought development of the site and infrastructure, it has failed to keep the real essence of tourism or nation building. I almost detest their stance.
“Tourism belongs to the common man and not the cream of the society. I want to tell the white coloured decision makers in Hotel Classic that they need to learn from Sikkim and Kerela the model of tourism they follow where all the stakes lie with the community. It is driven by the community, for the development of the community and not VVIP centric.
“Post insurgency I hope Manipur now doesn’t transform into a society with stiff stratification based on class,” she added.
