Woman stabbed to death

A 53-year-old woman from Khurai Thoudam Leikai in Imphal East District was fatally attacked with a knife at her residence at around 8:45 last night. The deceased has been identified as Ningombam Ningol Naoroibam Ongbi Shilla, wife of late Naoroibam Rame @ Rameshore. As she had no biological children, she had adopted Ayam Ronny, 29, son of A. Bobo of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai.
According to police, Ningombam Sunil, 47, son of N. Tombichou of Chingangbam Leikai, reported that he returned home from work around 8:45 pm to learn that his sister Shilla had been attacked by Ayam Ronny. When he reached her residence in Thoudam Leikai, she was found dead.
Porompat Police have arrested Ayam Ronny along with his uncle, Naoroibam Thouba, 65, son of late N. Kalachand of Kangla Siphai. The motive for the attack is suspected to be related to Shilla’s properties and land.
A case has been registered at Porompat Police Station. Shilla’s body was sent for postmortem at RIMS mortuary, as JNIMS is currently flooded. There is no information yet regarding the family members taking custody of the body.
