A woman was killed and another 6 persons were injured in a road accident that occurred today at Pheidinga area at NH-2 under Sekmai Police Station at around 10.30 am. The accident happened when a passenger bound bus bearing registration number AS 23D 6419 heading towards Senapati from Imphal collided a loaded truck coming towards Imphal from the opposite direction. The deceased has been identified as D.Pinky (46) wife of late Beseimao of Pangdong village. Those injured have been identified as Nameirakpam Bilasini (60, khwairakpam tombi (55), Simon Mao (50), G.Nelson (21), Heirina(34), and Akhuluom(24). All are passengers of the bus.
Eyewitness said that the accident happened when the truck lost its control over the steering while making a turn at the turning at Pheidinga area. The woman D.Pinky died on the spot. Other injured were immediately rushed to the RIMS hospital.
