Imphal, August 3: Amidst outrages to the various forms of crime against women in the state another housewife was found brutally murdered at a paddy field in Kakmayai Mamang Loukol under Yairipok Police station yesterday evening.The deceased housewife has been identified as Lourembam Ongbi Ranjita Devi (33), wife of Lourembam Loken Singh of Yairipok Khoirom Mathak Leikai.Family source said that the deceased lady went out of her home at around 11 am yesterday to look after their paddy field located at the site where her body was found. As she failed to return even at the late hour yesterday evening locals of the area went out in search of her and found the brutally murdered lady in the field.Marks seen on the dead body suggest that Ranjita might have been murdered after being rape by slitting her throats using sharp object. She is the mother of 4 (two daughters and two sons). A police team picked up the dead body and deposited at JNIMS morgue at around 11.30 pm yesterday.Wrath over the killing of the lady, locals of Yairipok, blocked road and later convened a public meeting and form a JAC. The public meeting was held at Yairipok Khoirom Mathak Leikai and was presided by Salam Kumar, Pradhan of the Leirongthel Ningel Gram Panchayat. The meeting while demanding the authority to find the culprits involved in the brutal killing of the lady resolved not to accept the dead body until the law enforcers find them. The meeting also resolved to demand compensation for the death and if the government fails to fulfill the demand the JAC has resolved to continue intense form of agitation.
