Woman assaulted by two men; family lost faith in police; sought help from public

There seems to be no dearth of criminal activities by miscreants when almost all people across the state are spending sleepless night rolling their head to protect the integrity of Manipur, a woman in was reportedly assaulted inhumanly by two persons at Moidangpok Village in Imphal West. The incident comes days after 4 armed miscreants with AK-47 looted over Rs 4 lakhs from a family at Lairikyengbam Leikai in Imphal East and in another incident armed miscreants fire indiscriminately towards a group of Meira Paibi and club members the previous day.
In yet another incident, which depicted the lawlessness in the state, a 47 years old woman identified as Ningthoukhongjam Ibeyaima, wife of N. Manglem of Moidangpok Khunou Mamang Leikai under Patsoi Police State was allegedly beaten blue and black by two persons, whom she identified as Oinam Brojan (43) S/0 O. Nupamacha and Oinam Brojen (37) S/o O. Samungou. The lady Ibeyaima said that the two started kicking at her over some petty matter, while she was returning after catching fish from the nearby canal. The incident happened on October 8, at around 9.30 pm.
Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club here in Imphal, Club members of the Wetsren Mordern Club, Moidangpok Khunou, Mamang Leikai said that they have lost faith to the police and for that reason they came to the media instead of filing complaint to the police station.
“We have witness in various occasion where the police fails to listen us and favour those rich and powerful, that is why we come to the media hoping that people across the state will help us in doing justice to the victim lady”, A representative of the local club said.
He said that after the incident both the persons involved were summoned however fails to present in front of the club members.
The Club representatives urge the people to help delivering justice to the victim girl.
