Winter session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly begins

Imphal, Dec 20: Winter Session of the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly begins today with the speaker of the house Yumnam Khemchand taking up the obituary reference of 4 former members of the house including the 1st and the last MP from the state, who also served the state as chief Minister for  5 times, Rishang Keishing. Other members that the house honoured and pay respect are Khundongbam Jugeshwar Singh, former member of the 2nd Manipur legislative Assembly from 17th Lamshang Assembly Constituency, Salam Damudor, former member of the 4th Manipur Legislative Assembly and Th. Krishna, former member of the 3rd and 5th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Leader of the house N. Biren Singh, Opposition leader Okram Ibobi and other members of the house joined the obituary reference calling upon the sincerity, integrity and sacrificed of the four member of the house.
Later the secretary of the Manipur Legislative Assembly intimated the house on the bills assented by the governor. The Bills that the governor had given assent are The Manipur Appropriation (No 3) Bill, 2017, The Manipur Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (Amendment) Bill, 2017, The Manipur Appropriation (No 4) Bill, 2017, The Manipur Private School (Registration and regulation ) Bill, 2017, The Manipur Coaching Institute (Control and Regulation) Bill, 2017 and the Dhanamanjuri University Bill, 2017
The leader of the house than move the 4th report of the Business Advisory Committee, 2017 and the house agreed with the allocation of the time recommended by the committee. The winter session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly will be concluded on December 23.
On the first day Minister n charge for Tribal Affairs and Hills, N. Kaysii also tabled the The Manipur (Hill Area) District Councils (Fourth Amendment ) Bill 2017.
With no business left for today, the speaker adjourned the house till 11 am tomorrow.
