Winners announced for Yarou Sangai 2025 at Bishnupur

The Sangai First Foundation, Manipur, has announced the winners of the prestigious “Yarou Sangai 2025” competition, held on November 9 at Bishnupur Higher Secondary School. Organized as a prelude to the upcoming 2nd Sangai Day, the event sought to inspire students to contribute toward the conservation of the Sangai deer — Manipur’s state animal and symbol of natural heritage — through awareness, creativity, and responsibility.
Altogether, 113 students from different schools of Bishnupur District enrolled for the competition, of which 93 contestants actively competed in essay writing, quiz, and painting events on the theme “Our Sangai.” The entries were evaluated by a jury comprising respected educators and conservationists on their originality, knowledge, and impact.
Laipharkpam Urmila Chanu from Sanatombi Oriental English School, Kumbi, won the much-coveted “Yarou Sangai 2025” title. Thoi Tongbram from Paradise Gardening School, Chandpur, secured the first runner-up position. Brikrama Lourembam of Comprehensive School, Oinam, was declared second runner-up. The joint third runners-up were Haobijam Anamika Chanu of Ningthoukhong Higher Secondary School and Keisham Lanchenba of Bethel English School, Nambol.
