Wide Angle organizes training programme for Sustainable Livelihood and Development Through Kitchen Gardening

A “One Day Training Program on Sustainable Livelihood and Development Through Kitchen Gardening” was held today at the Salam Community Hall, Imphal West organized by Wide Angle Social Development Organisation and Supported by CRY (Child Rights & You).
The targeted beneficiaries of the program are village housewives. The training was undertaken, Th. David Singh Associate Professor NIT (National Institute of Technology) and about 50 local women villagers from local Maklang, Salam, Tharoijam, Heinoubok, and Ngairangbam Villages took part in the said program.
Montu Ahanthem, Secretary Wide Angle Social Development Organization, started the program by highlighting the topic of the programme. He explained how Kitchen Garden is essential for every household to sustain livelihood and elaborated on how Kitchen Garden has been an integral part of local households since time immemorial.
David Singh Associate Professor NIT (National Institute of Technology)- spoke on the importance of growing locally available vegetables during the upcoming season and take care focusing on locally available organic fertilizers & pest control methods. He explained the importance of Kitchen Gardening to maintain a sustainable livelihood. He further highlighted the importance of biodegradable waste. He opined that “soil” is the most important criterion for gardening and said that identifying soil is the step that should not be missed in gardening. He further added that “well-drained soil” is the best type of soil for growing vegetables.
