Imphal, May 6:

Combined security forces have unearthed a cache of sophisticated weaponry and explosives from two deserted camps nestled in the remote fringes of Aimol and Irengbam Maning villages, located in Bishnupur district adjoining Churachandpur district.
Officials disclosed on Monday that the breakthrough came following actionable intelligence, leading to a joint operation by state and central forces under the purview of the Nambol police station on Sunday morning.
The recovered arsenal includes a carbine with two magazines, a 9mm pistol accompanied by a magazine, four live 36 HE grenades, fifty rounds of live ammunition, and five PEK sticks of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) weighing approximately 750 grams. Additionally, six SLR tube launchers, a detonator, eight hand grenade arming rings, ballistic cartridges, tear shells, MK 3 and MK-1 grenades, a Bicard Strip, and two walkie-talkies with a charger were among the items seized.
Authorities have transferred the confiscated materials to the Nambol police station for further legal proceedings, marking a significant step in efforts to curb illicit arms proliferation and maintain law and order in the region.
