In a press release, in response to the visit of I.N.D.I.A Alliance MPs’ in Manipur, MLA Rk Imo Singh extending a warm welcome urged the visiting delegates not to engage in political posturing but rather focus on the peace-building efforts and participate in bringing lasting peace to the region. He also urged the visiting delegates to have a comprehensive understanding of the ground realities and base their actions and decisions on verified facts. He reiterated the urgent need for complete disbarment in the State. He called for the confiscation of all weapons belonging to insurgent groups and illegal armed foreign forces. “Silencing the barrel of guns will be crucial in bringing much-needed peace to the State,” he emphasized.
He also said that positive and constructive discussions in the parliament will pave the way for peace in the state. Referring to a recent media report on TIMES NOW, expressed his concern over the dissemination of unverified news by certain media houses from outside the state and urged the media fraternity to exercise caution and maintain neutrality while reporting sensitive matters.
He also, informed that a representation by the MLAs has been submitted to the Union Home Minister on July 10 seeking a thorough investigation and appropriate action against illegal foreign forces and insurgent groups involved in acts of violence and breaking ground rules. “We are positive that the Central Government will take stringent action against these forces,” he stated.
