Imphal, July 30:
One 11 (eleven) years old minor girl sustained bullet injury to her right back in another unabated firing by armed Kuki militants at Kwakta in Bishnupur district today morning.
The minor girl has been identified as Anima, daughter of Md. Hasan, a resident of Kwakta Sabal Ward No. 3. Anima, a student of Class 3 at Mahak Radiant Public School, was hit by a bullet while she was cleaning utensils at her home at around 8 am today. She was immediately rushed to Bishnupur district hospital and after providing first aid she was later referred to Raj Medicity Hospital here in Imphal.
The place where the girl was hit by a bullet was located in close proximity to Tera Khongshangbi area in the periphery Bishnupur district adjoining Churachandpur district. Since the last couple of days, villagers of the area (which is dominated by the Muslim community) spend sleepless nights after armed Kuki militants fired several rounds of gunshots and rocket bombs.
On Saturday night there is a report of heavy gunfight between the combined security force and the Kuki militants at Tera Khongshanbi village. Report said a village volunteer sustained bullet injury after being caught in the gunfight.
Since the outbreak of the violence, heavy security forces including the Assam Rifles have been deployed in the adjoining area between the Churachandpur and Bishnupur districts. However, these areas continue to be a hotspot for violence as the security forces fail to contain the armed Kuki militants.
