WDA observed World AIDS Orphans Day-2015 at Wangjing

As done in different parts of the world, Women Development Association,Wangjing observed World AIDS Orphans Day, 2015 at conference hall of Lamding Model High School on Thursday. The function was attended by P.Loken Singh,Chairman,Manipur Industries Development Council (MIDC),Imphal, Thoudam Openkumar Singh,District Superviser,DAPCU Thoubal, Sapam Manihar Singh,Member ward no.4,Wangjing Lamding Municipal Council, Paster,M.Ranjit,Director,Harvest of Jubilee,International and Takhellambam (o) Indubala Devi,Social Worker,Wangjing  as Presidium members. Delivering the key note address, M.Manglem  said that one of the most serious miserable and sensitive areas in life is the status of HIV positive people and most concernable group is the innocent HIV positive children.they even may be fatherless or motherless.they are very vulnerable to unhealthiness,stigma from self and society,mentally shockness, rejection of social participation, marginalization and hopelessness arena. He further stated that 115 HIV positive children and around 200 affected children in Thoubal District.they may be anti-social agencies if we have not special care for them.  We also need to support our precious children for peaceful future.our citizen’s response and local resource are much significant and glorious in our society, he said. Speaking on the occation,Th.Openkumar,District Superviser,DAPCU,Thoubal said that despite progress in funding, prevention and treatment of AIDS, the world is ignoring the basic needs of millions of vulnerable children. A generation would be lost if we do not take up urgent measures to support the basic rights of children and the families and communities. He said there are many children whose HIV/AIDS positive status could not be revealed. They are administered ART drug on the pretext of giving them vitamin pills. Stating that many children with HIV/AIDS have grown up, he said it is now time to provide assistance. Many children effected by HIV have not got the opportunity to sleep in mattress not to talk about their education. now is the time to extend assistance to the children adding that the demand for the fund to children is justifiable,he added. Gifts were presented to Children (CLHIVs) on the occasion by Presidium members.
