Water levels begin to recede slightly, but flood risk remains in Manipur

According to the 10 AM flood update released by the Water Resources Department, Manipur today, water levels in some rivers have shown marginal improvement, but several rivers are still flowing near or above flood levels, keeping flood risk high in the valley areas.
The Imphal River at Lilong recorded a slight drop to 781.800 meters, just above the flood level of 781.350 meters. Similarly, the Nambul River at Hump Bridge stands at the flood level of 782.175 meters, while the Nambol River at Nambol Bridge remains above its flood threshold at 774.100 meters.

Manipur Flood: 44 Relief Camps shelter 3,147 people in Imphal East and West
A total of 44 relief camps have been set up across Imphal East and Imphal West districts to provide shelter to flood-affected persons, according to official data.
In Imphal East district, 26 relief camps are currently accommodating 2,473 inmates. The camps include major shelter sites such as Nongmeibung Thamchet School (300 inmates), AAA Kongpal Kongkham Leikai (208), and Koirengei Keikhol Primary School (156).
In Imphal West district, 9 camps remain operational, while 3 camps have been closed. The active camps are sheltering 674 inmates, with the largest being Awang Leikenthabi Shantipur (166 inmates), Hayel Community Hall (110), and Khonghampat Khunou Community Hall (73).
Authorities continue to monitor the situation, providing essential aid including food, water, and medical support to those affected. Community halls, schools, and multipurpose centers are being used to house displaced families as recovery and relief efforts are underway across the flood-hit areas.

The Iril River at Irilbung Bridge also showed a minor decline, now at 786.450 meters, just under the flood mark. Meanwhile, the Thoubal River is flowing safely below flood level at 776.500 meters.
In the last four hours, Kangpokpi received 8 mm of rainfall, while Jiribam recorded 10 mm, with minor rainfall noted at Raj Bhawan and Lamphel. Other locations, including Saikul and Litan, reported no rainfall.
Authorities have kept most gates of Ithai and Imphal Barrages open, while Shamushang Regulator remains closed and Thoubal Barrage has one gate partially open. Monitoring and alert systems remain active across flood-prone zones.
