Violence and killing among one another will not bring any solution – Okram Ibobi

Violence can never bring a solution, as evidenced by the brutal killing of Moirangthem Ibotombi by armed assailants. This was stated by former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh while speaking on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the late Moirangthem Ibotombi Singh. Ibobi Singh said that violence cannot bring any good to society. Killing one another is not inherent to human nature, he added.
Pensions were distributed to widows and senior citizens of the Heirok Assembly constituency. on occasion, the 31st Moirangthem Ibotombi Memorial Charitable Trust organised a memorial programme at the Moirangthem Ibotombi Memorial Complex in Heirok Part-II, Mayai Leikai.
Late Moirangthem Ibotombi’s wife, Moirangthem Ongbi Ibemhal, inaugurated the programme. The programme was inaugurated by Moirangthem Ongbi Ibemhal, wife of late Moirangthem Ibotombi. A photo exhibition was also held showcasing his life and contributions.
The theme of the event, ‘Hingsi Amadi Hinghansi’ called for peace and harmony, and the activities included blood donation camp and pension disbursement to senior citizens, widows, and differently-abled persons. Approximately 2,300 beneficiaries were covered by the pension distribution, while 200 youths donated blood in the blood donation camp.
The former Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi, called upon society not to embrace violence in any form, but to work together in building a harmonious community. He reiterated that destroying the culture of violence is everybody’s responsibility and that everyone must make an effort toward harmony for a secure and prosperous Manipur.
Ibobi further mentioned that Manipur would become a truly peaceful state if every individual tries to live peacefully and resolves the conflict without violence.
Moirangthem Ibotombi was tragically killed at his home on December 7, 1994. Every year, The Trust commemorates his memory, inspiring the society towards his ideals for peace and living without violence.
The programme was attended by former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, MLA K. Ranjit from Sugnu AC, MLA Th. Lakeshor from Khundrakpam AC and other Congress party leaders along with a large number of community members.
