Imphal, Jan 17: A large number of women from Khumji Part 2 village, near Noney had foiled Manipur police commandos activities yesterday. Report reaching here said that combined team of Manipur Police Commandos from Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal and Bishnupur district led by Dr. S. Ibomcha Singh, Addl. SP (Ops) IW, today rushed at Khumji Part 2 Village at around 4.30 am to conduct search operation in the area along the Imphal -Jiribam road. The site is the place where a person was killed and another three injured in millitant attack on January 12. The police commando tried to conduct search operation in the area after getting specific information about the presence of armed militants in the area. The report further added that the police commando team cordon the area and started conducting verification of the villagers in the wee hour. Later after some time large number of women gathered and resisted the police commando from conducting the search operation. Heated argument took place between the police commando and the women group. Mentioned may be made that the United Naga Council, which had been ensuing prolong economic blockade along the National Highways has been accusing the Manipur Police commandos of killing the civilian on Jan 12. However police said that the person was killed in militants’ firing. Three sustained bullet injury.
