Imphal, April 15:
Members of Singjubung Youth’s Club (SYC), Nagamapal today conducted a verification drive of both locals and non-locals who are residing at rent at Nagamapal Singjubung Leikai, Imphal West.
Speaking to Imphal Times, L Bedic, Secretary SYC said that the main reason for the verification drive is due to the increasing crime rate and sometimes it is hard to find out who has committed the crime.
Most of the people staying in rent are sometimes turns out to be criminals who has committed heinous crimes and they somehow manage to rent a room hiding their identity by forging documents, he added.
Bedic also said that in-order to avoid various crimes in the state and to find out who are having fake and forged documents the verification drive is being conducted.
Atleast 750 non-locals and around 150 are locals from both hill and valley areas including children have been verified that are sheltering in rents at the Nagamapal Singjubung Leikai area.
Most of the documents the non-locals have submitted are aadhar cards where some of the documents turn out to be of different address though they are staying at rent at Nagamapal Singjubung Leikai area, Bedic added.
