Imphal, Oct 22:
The United People’s Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) has raised concerns over alleged corruption at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), calling for immediate action against those responsible. In a recent statement, UPPK highlighted what it describes as “rampant exploitation” of public funds and resources within the hospital’s administration, specifically targeting Chief Account Officer Sairem Sarat Singh.
According to UPPK, Sarat Singh has been involved in significant financial irregularities, including the misappropriation of funds and illegal appointments under the guise of providing essential services. The party claims that these corrupt practices have severely undermined public trust and harmed the integrity of the hospital system.
Reports from UPPK suggest that payments of 25% to 30% of salaries were demanded from individuals in exchange for securing hospital positions such as Attendant, Mali, Cook, Nurse, Driver, and Lab Technician. These allegations indicate a deep-rooted issue of corruption in RIMS’ recruitment processes, which has impacted the credibility of one of the region’s primary healthcare institutions.
The UPPK strongly condemned these actions and pledged to expose all wrongdoers. “The exploitation of public funds and the manipulation of job appointments will not be tolerated,” a spokesperson for the party stated. The party also vowed to seek justice for those affected by the alleged schemes and to protect the public from further exploitation.
In response to these allegations, UPPK has demanded a thorough investigation into the hospital’s activities, particularly focusing on the financial misconduct and illegal appointments. The party also made public the names of individuals implicated in the corruption, including RIMS’ PS Victoria, urging immediate action from the authorities.
UPPK has called on the people of Manipur to remain vigilant and not fall victim to such fraudulent schemes. The party emphasized its commitment to protecting the rights and well-being of the citizens, encouraging anyone with information to come forward. “Justice must be served to those who have suffered due to these corrupt practices,” the party said, underscoring its mission to restore public trust in Manipur’s institutions.
UPPK appealed to the authorities to act swiftly in addressing these issues, ensuring that the people of Manipur are safeguarded from further exploitation. The party reaffirmed its dedication to upholding the integrity of public services and promoting transparency for the betterment of society.
