MUSU organizes seminar on Manipuri Language, Literature, Culture, Society

The Manipur University Students’ Union (MUSU) 2024-25 organized a one-day National Level Seminar on “A Meticulous Aspect of Manipuri Language, Literature, Culture, and Society.” The seminar was graced by Prof. S. Imoba, Dean of the School of Humanities, Manipur University, as the Chief Guest; Ch. Kulabidhu Singha, President of the All Assam Kang Association, Assam, and M. Jadumani Singh, President of the Manipur Kang Association, as the Guests of Honor; and N. Suraj Singh, President of MUSU, presiding over the seminar.
The convener of the National Seminar, Dr. N. Sanatomba, Assistant Professor, Department of Manipuri, remarked that today’s gathering of scholars from different regions of Manipur, sharing their thoughts on the development, preservation, and promotion of the state’s language, culture, and society, is crucial for understanding the current identity of Manipur. He emphasized that alongside appreciating our past, educators, students, youth, and elders must actively work together to preserve and promote Manipuri traditions. Additionally, the need to revise and upgrade outdated educational syllabi was highlighted, especially in light of modern developments in Manipuri society such as household, community, language, customs, and environmental concerns.
The seminar featured presentations of 10 papers by 10 resource persons, exploring various aspects of Manipuri culture and society. The participation of university and college students as delegates contributed to meaningful discussions, with Dr. Sanatomba concluding that the seminar will play an important role in advancing the knowledge and understanding of youth in these areas.
