UPF constitutes Imphal East District Council

The United Peoples’ Front (UPF), Manipur has constituted its Imphal East District Council with a 15-member committee during a meeting held at Nongmeipung Thamchet High School.

The newly appointed office bearers include Thouchom Ranbir (Momon) as District President, Nongthombam Bimom and Kshetrimayum Khurojit as Vice Presidents, Khumukcham Bikram as District Secretary, Soram Somokanta as Joint Secretary, Kshetrimayum Bivek as Finance Secretary and Nam Robinson as Organisation Secretary. Eight executive members were also inducted into the council.

According to a statement issued by Ayrkpam Loyalakpa Meitei, Secretary (Publicity), UPF Manipur, the oath of office was administered by UPF Manipur president Nongthombam Bupa Chandra.

Speaking on the occasion, District President Thouchom Ranbir said the district council would work in coordination with the UPF headquarters and prioritise issues affecting farmers, particularly the shortage of irrigation water. He said the council would also take up the issue of poor road conditions in Imphal East with the concerned departments.

Ranbir further said the council would strive to strengthen peace, harmony and unity among the different communities residing in the district. He appealed to the public to extend their support and cooperation to the organisation in carrying out its activities.
