Imphal, Jan 7:

The Pambei-led United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has expressed condolences to the bereaved family members of the five victims of the unfortunate firing incident in Lilong on the evening of January 1.
According to a statement from the Pambei-led UNLF, issued by media coordinator Charairongba Thokchom, the firing incident in Lilong occurred during a tense situation in Manipur and had the potential to ignite further communal clashes and animosity between the Meetei and Meitei-Pangal communities, who have peacefully coexisted in Manipur for centuries.
Fortunately, timely intervention by leaders from both the Meitei-Pangal and Meetei communities, as well as civil society organization leaders and the general public, prevented a catastrophe. The statement expresses gratitude to all those involved in resolving the situation and promoting harmony between the two communities.
The outfit also appeals to all residents of Manipur to refrain from using provocative language on any platform that could incite hostility between the Meetei and Meitei-Pangal communities.
