Unhappy with DC’s assurance, protestors attack Thoubal DC complex

A protest rally, organized by six student organizations in Thoubal, turned violent when protestors threw stones at the Treasury Office. The rally was held to demand justice for two teenagers who were brutally murdered. During the protest, the Main Gate of Thoubal DC office, SBI ATM booth, and Security barracks were damaged. An Activa vehicle parked inside the DC Office complex was also destroyed. Additionally, the District Treasury Office and two parked cars were damaged.
In order to disperse the protestors, the police used tear gas shells and rubber bullets, resulting in injuries to 10 students, as well as SP Thoubal Sachidananda Soibam, Addl. SP(Ops) Wangkhomba Okramcha, OC Thoubal Sudhir, police personnel, and a few BSF personnel.

Although the state government announced a three-day holiday for schools, many students from various schools still went to their respective schools wearing their uniforms. The protestors chanted slogans demanding justice for the two students. However, they were prevented from advancing further at the DC gate by the police and BSF. After meeting with the DC, a delegate of student leaders put forwarded their demands and the demands included apprehending the culprit behind the murder of the two students within 48 hours and allowing students to attend classes. However, after meeting with the DC, the protestors demanded that the DC come out and address them, which led to the stone-throwing incident.
