UNC likely to suspends Economic Blockade from today evening

The United Naga Council (UNC) is likely to suspend its ongoing economic blockade from today evening likely from 6 pm today following assurances from the Central Government to address concerns over the Free Movement Regime (FMR) and border fencing works in Naga-inhabited areas.
According to the UNC, the decision was taken during its Presidential Council meeting after Manipur Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel conveyed a message from UNC President Ng. Lorho appealing to lift the blockade. The Council said the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has agreed to initiate discussions with the UNC and consult all stakeholders before implementing any measures along the India–Myanmar border.
The UNC also informed that the long-pending Tripartite Talks involving the Council, the Government of Manipur, and the Centre will resume soon at a mutually agreed time and venue.
If suspended, the UNC urged the public to consider it temporary, warning that the agitation could resume if the government fails to fulfill its commitments. It reiterated its core demands: withdrawal of the Free Movement Regime and a halt to ongoing border fencing until a concrete agreement is reached with Naga stakeholders.
The Council cautioned that failure to resolve the issues through dialogue could compel it to adopt renewed forms of protest in the future.
