Imphal, July 12: Militants armed with sophisticated weapons today ambushed Autonomous District Council (ADC) member of Ukhrul district, Mr. Ngalangar near Finch corner while returning in a Maruti Van with his son from Phunyar today morning.In the ambushed, Mr. Ngalangar died on the spot while his son and the driver of the maruti van identified as Khangembam Bijani (41) son of late Kh. Chaoba of Khurai Thangjam Leikai sustain serious injury. Both were reported to have been evacuated at Shangshak Army Hospital however, as the condition of the Bijani went critical he was immediately shifted to Raj Polyclinic hospital in Imphal. A bullet hit at his left abdomen. He was hired by the ADC member for a trip to Phungyar.According to report, Ukhrul ADC member Mr. Ngalangar and his son along with his driver were returning in a dark blue colour maruti van bearing registration number MN-01K 3962 when the militants ambushed them at around 11.40 am today near a forest beat office located around 200 metres from Finch Corner in Ukhrul district.
