In three different operations, the units of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR(South) along with Manipur Police apprehended underground cadres from various parts of Imphal and Thoubal on August 18 and 19.
A statement of the Assam Rifle said that Mantripukhari Battalion in a joint operation with Imphal East Commandos apprehended one cadre of proscribed group PLA/RPF in Saijang Makha and one PREPAK cadre in Pourabi.
In another operation, Thoubal Battalion apprehended one underground of the proscribed group PLA near Wangjing Heirok crossing, Thoubal district during search and frisking in a mobile vehicle check post. The individuals confessed to their being parts of the respective underground groups, the Assam Rifles statement added.
