UG involved in abduction of brick field owner nabbed

Imphal, April 25: A cadre of KRA-U who was involved in the kidnapping for ransom of a local brick field owner was arrested by Imphal West police commandos at around 6.30 pm yesterday evening.
According to reports, the militant identified as Laishram Amujao alias Sunil, 38 years, son of late L Mangi Singh of Khagempalli Huidrom Leikai was arrested from the Imphal West district side of Lilong Thong along with a 9mm pistol, one magazine and two live rounds.
He was reportedly involved in the kidnapping of Soibam Dhanabir Singh, a brick field owner who is a resident of Tera Lukram Leirak, on February 16 last for a ransom demand of Rs two crore. Three other persons involved in the kidnapping case had already been booked before.
The KRA-U activist was handed over to Lamphel police station for initiation of further legal actions.
On the other hand, Bishnupur district commando has yesterday handed over a member of ZUF, identified as Th Adum alias AD Thaison alias Pantigai, son of Radikhunpou, who is a resident of Chaiba village of Senapati district.
A Beretta .32 pistol and five live rounds were seized from him.
