Imphal, Dec 7: With the UNC fails to listen to the plead of the UCM to roll back the economic blockade along the two national highways, the United Committee Manipur (UCM) has called an all community meeting on December 9.
This was stated by Elangbam Johnson, President of the United Committee Manipur while talking to media persons today. Johnson said that as the deadline given to the UNC has been over the UCM is now left with no choice to convene an all community meeting to find a way to counter the UNc economic blockade.
He said the economic blockade has given tremendous hardship not only to the people of the valley areas but also to those villagers in interior Hill district. He appealed UNC to once more reconsider the appeal for relaxation of the economic blockade from various sections of the society.
The All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO) and Tribal Churches Leader Forum (TCLF) has demanded to sort out the current issues between State Government and United Naga Council (UNC) with a clarification over the announcement of Jiribam and Sadar Hills as full fledge district.
Speaking to the media persons here at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul, L Saimon Raomai, executive member of TCLF said that it was a wrong move for the State Government trying to approve Jiribam and Sadar Hills as full fledged district without the concern of the Stakeholder of each district and community. The decision let the economic blockade to come in action call by United Naga Council (UNC) where both hill and valley people have met the limit of suffering. UNC are not against the any community but against the State Government, he added.
