Imphal, Oct 31:
The United Committee Manipur (UCM) commemorated the 2018 “October Mass Rally” with a gathering held at the Loktak Hall of the Manipur Press Club. The event, organized to mark the rally’s significance, drew community leaders and supporters who reaffirmed their commitment to preserving Manipur’s unity against divisive policies.
UCM President YK Dhiren, Consultative Members Y Dilipkumar and Kh Ratan, along with Laishangbam Jadu and T Birjit attended the event. In his address, President YK Dhiren highlighted the importance of unity among the people of Manipur to counter divisive tactics that have emerged in the region. He stressed that the “October Mass Rally” symbolized the people’s collective resolve to stand united, adding that efforts to fragment the state through a divide-and-rule policy would not succeed as long as the people remained united.
YK Dhiren also emphasized the need for collective vigilance against foreign influences, particularly referencing the influx of alleged Chin-Kuki narco-terrorist groups from Myanmar. He stated that these groups posed a threat to Manipur’s territorial and social stability, calling for a stronger response to protect the state’s interests. He urged the people of Manipur to rise above individual differences and work toward a common goal, asserting that unity is essential to maintaining Manipur’s strength and identity in the face of external pressures.
