UAL, UNAL slam delays in Uripok works, warn of public fallout

Uripok Apunba Lup (UAL) and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup (UNAL) today came down heavily on the prolonged delay in key developmental works in Uripok, alleging negligence and lack of accountability on the part of executing agencies.
Addressing media persons, representatives of the two organisations stated that despite extending full cooperation since the start of the rigid concrete road project, the authorities have failed to deliver within a reasonable timeframe. They said large stretches of the road remain incomplete, while drainage works initiated months ago are yet to be finished, causing severe inconvenience to residents.
The groups warned that the continued delay has triggered widespread public anger, with daily life in the area being disrupted due to poor road conditions and unfinished infrastructure.
They also flagged the deteriorating condition of the Langol–Shija road, stating that repeated appeals and meetings with the Public Works Department (PWD) and Keystone Pvt. Ltd. have yielded no tangible progress.
Raising alarm over flood risks, UAL and UNAL pointed out that the absence of a retaining wall along the Nambul River on the Uripok side continues to expose the area to recurring flooding, posing a serious threat to lives and property.
Demanding immediate intervention, the organisations urged the Chief Minister to take urgent steps to address the grievances and ensure accountability, warning that continued inaction could lead to intensified public agitation.
