Imphal, April 7:

Manipur Police had arrested two women for allegedly smuggling heroin concealed in soap cases early morning from Jiribam-Silchar bus parking in Sagolband Salam leikai in Imphal West district.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a team from Singjamei Police Station led by Sub-Inspector Ksh. Satyajit intercepted a Tata Sumo vehicle around 6:00 AM. The vehicle was reportedly en route to Silchar via Jiribam.
During a thorough search of the vehicle, the police team recovered 25 soap cases containing suspected high-grade heroin powder. The two women travelling in the vehicle were immediately taken into custody.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sahani Talaibam Masani (23) of Mayang Imphal and Babita Seikh (28) of Golapati, both residents of Imphal West district.
According to preliminary interrogation, the heroin consignment was intended for delivery to associates in Silchar, Assam. A forensic mobile laboratory was called to the scene to conduct an on-the-spot analysis of the seized narcotics.
The arrested women, along with the seized contraband, have been handed over to the Imphal Police Station for further investigation. An FIR has been registered in connection with the case.
