Two UKLA cadres nabbed in Kangpokpi

Manipur police arrested two active cadres of United Kuki Liberation Army (UKLA) while trying to flee after seeing the police in Kangpokpi district on Tuesday.
“Based on specific inputs about the presence of Underground cadres intending to extort money from trucks plying along National Highway 2 (Imphal-Dimapur highway) and the shops around the area,the Kangpokpi police team rushed to the area near Changoubung village,” ’says SP Amrita Sinha of Kangpokpi district said today.
“The two individuals were seen running away from the spot seeing the police teams, they were chased and apprehended.”
The arrested persons have been identified as Seitinthang Kilong (46) of Kangchup Makhom and Satgoulen Haokip (29)of Kotlen village.
During questioning after the arrest, the duo revealed that they are active members of UKLA and have extorted money from three trucks on the same day under the command of one Davidson Haokip of Moreh,SP Amitra said.
The Kangpokpi police team recovered a Transport receipt book, three mobile phones, one black Dio Scooty bearing registration number MN01U-4664,Rs 7,100 in cash and one black airbag from their possession.
An FIR has been registered in connection with the incident and further investigation is on, Kangpokpi SP added.
