Two civilians shot dead at Kalenjang

Two civilians were reportedly shot dead by suspected militants belonging to the Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) at Kalenjang village under Senapati Police Station at around 2:30 pm today.

According to reports, the incident occurred shortly after chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh left Maram College after attending a function at Maram College . The deceased are reportedly from Mao Chowainu village and Poumai Laii Shirafii, respectively.

Police personnel reached the site shortly after the incident and began assessing the situation. A police ground report was being prepared as of around 2:45 pm.

The identities of the deceased and the circumstances leading to the shooting are yet to be officially confirmed. The allegation of involvement of KRA cadres also remains subject to police investigation.
