Twin blasts rock Imphal ahead of Independence Day 

Imphal, Aug 10: Twin IED blasts at two different places today rock the state capital Imphal amidst tight security measures being taken up ahead of the Independence Day celebration.
According to police source, the first blast took place at around 9 AM near sentry post of the Border Security Force(BSF) at Maphou Barrage site under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East District. A minor girl sustained injury while she was playing nearby at Moirang Purel Village. The minor girl identified as Tinoy (7 years), daughter of Sagoulang Singshit of Maphou Village, is undergoing at Christian Hospital at Dewlahland.
The second blast took place at around 12:45 this afternoon beside the Leishang Hiden canal about 300 metres away to the East from the Main Gate of Manipur University at Canchipur under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West. No one was injured in the blast.
A source said that the IED was planted among the earth pile up for road construction work  at the road side.
