TV panelist arrested for using derogatory language against Union Home Minister

Spokesperson of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), who is also a popular panelist in TV discussions, Sanaojam Samachoron popularly known as Sanou, an Advocate by profession was arrested by City Police Imphal for allegedly using derogatory language against the Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
President of the BJYM, Manipur M. Barish Sharma lodged a complaint to the Imphal West Police station for taking up appropriate action against the Congress Spokesperson S. Samachoron in connection with his derogatory remark against the Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a panel discussion broadcasted at IMPACT TV on its Manung Hutna programme dated April 9, 2022.
The programme on Impact TV Manung Hutna under the title “Hindi: Unification or Imposition Debate” was anchored by the executive editor of Impact TV and was attended by State BJP Spokesperson Soubam Nongpoknganba Meitei and Vice President of IPSA, Khuraijam Athouba beside the MPCC spokesperson Samachoron.
In the complaint filed by the BJYM President, M. Barish Sharma, it is stated that the congress spokesperson in the discussion hours of IMPACT TV dated 9/4/2022, Samachoron not only abused the mainland Indian but also used foul and derogatory language against the Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He deliberately maliciously humiliated them as animals and continued to further use derogatory language, thereby hurting the racial and religious feelings of entire India which amount to sedition despite the other panelists restraining him to do so.
The BJYM lodged the complaint under section 124 A, 295 Z, 505 etc of the Indian penal code. The complaint was lodged yesterday.
As per source a team of Imphal West had picked up S Samachoron and later the case has been handed over to the City Police.
At the time of filing this report, Samachoron is still in the custody of City police and is yet to produce to the Court. However, a source said that he will be produced in the court soon.
