The Thadou Students’ Association, General Headquarters shows serious concern to the recent incident at ICFAI University Tripura.

In a statement the students’ body said that they are very disturbed and irritated by the news of students from Manipur being attacked and threatened in their hostels by the local and Bengali students yesterday at ICFAI University, Tripura.

“An incident of pelting stones, storming hostels with sticks and iron bars was also reported in various papers. It is also learnt that the said incident was caused just because of a minor incident of eve-teasing by the senior students”, the statement signed by Paogoulun Chongloi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Education & Statistics , of TSA said.

The locals should have handled the case wisely and such outbreak of students feeling insecure, leaving behind their campus is uncalled for. This causes just only a disgrace to the entire people of Tripura, nothing more than that.

The state government should have taken enough precaution as and when the incident was recognized in public. Such negligence of the law enforcing authority is also highly condemned.

While condemning the action of the locals of Tripura, TSA appealed all stakeholders to put all efforts in reinstating peace and normalcy in the day to day functioning of the university at the earliest possible time.
