Truck drivers of Imphal to Jiribam demands the state government to exempt tax for six months since there is no service due to NH 37 road block
Addressing a press conference today at the office of Transporters and Drivers Council (TDC) at MG Avenue, President, TDC, Ranjit said that FCI doesn’t allow the truck drivers of Manipur to carry goods along the road of National Highway 37 since August last year. At present the FCI go-down at Jiribam which has the capacity of 5000 MT is fully stocked with food grain. He said that the goods are carried from Golaghat via Jagiroad to Jiribam but it doesn’t reach Imphal. And no contractor is appointed for the same. Ranjit asked if there is any hidden agenda of FCI to not appoint any contractor and not allowing the drivers to carry the goods along the route of NH 37. He demanded the state government to exempt their tax for six months and to appeal the Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Ram Vilas Paswan to immediately look in the matter. Giving a dateline till 01st April, Ranjit said all the trucks will be deposited to FCI and Transport department if the state government fails to meet their demand.
