The family of the victims of the tragic bomb attack at Tronglaobi Awang Leikai has demanded that the State Government arrest all those responsible within five days, stating that no amount of ex-gratia can replace the lives lost.
The demand was made during a media interaction at Raj Medicity, where Oinam (Ongbi) Binita, who sustained critical injuries in the attack, is undergoing treatment. The incident, which occurred around 1 am on April 7 under Moirang police station, claimed the lives of her two children—five-year-old Oinam Tomthin and his five-month-old sister Oinam Yaisana.
Speaking to media persons, the children’s grandmother, Oinam Loidam, acknowledged the government’s announcement of financial assistance but stated that justice and an end to the ongoing violence are far more important. She urged the authorities to identify and apprehend the perpetrators within five days to ensure accountability and prevent recurrence of such incidents.
Loidam also recounted the emotional trauma faced by Binita, stating that she was initially not informed about the death of her children due to her critical condition. According to her, Binita came to know about the incident through a newspaper, which left her deeply distressed and adversely affected her health.
Raising concerns over claims of improving peace in the state, the family questioned the prevailing security situation and urged the government to take firm and effective measures to restore lasting peace and ensure the safety of civilians.
