Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee today observed the 76h Birth Anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at Congress Bhavan at BT road here in Imphal. Leaders of the Congress party led by state president M. Okendro paid floral tributes to the portrait of the late Prime Minister.
A function held on the occasion was graced by the CLP leader Okram Ibobi, CWC member Gaikhangam and MPC president M. Okendro as the dignitaries on the dais.
Leaders of the congress party caution the people to be aware of the trending political scenario. They appealed to prepare for protection of Democracy which they said is in graved danger.
The birth anniversary was also observed at Wangkhem Assembly Constituency with the Indian Youth Congress members of the constituency in Thoubal District of Manipur.
While celebrating the birth anniversary of the late Prime Minister of India, Congress MLA K. Meghachandra thanked the Wangkhem Pradesh Youth Congress for planting trees to conserve environment. MLA Meghachandra recalled the ideas and actions of Rajiv Gandhi in protecting environment in India.
Congress MLA Meghachandra stated, “I thank the Indian Youth Congress members of Wangkhem Assembly Constituency for celebrating the 76th birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister of India Shri Rajiv Gandhi ji by conserving environment today.”
He further added, “we spread Rajiv ji’s ideas of conserving nature by planting trees on his birthday today.”
On the occasion, Ningombam Bupenda Meitei, Congress spokesperson and AICC in-charge of North East India for Fishermen Congress, expressed the significance of the youngest Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi’s contributions to India and the world.
