Tribute paid to renowned singer Aheibam Shyam at Marjing Polo Complex

A heartfelt tribute was paid to the late renowned Manipuri singer Aheibam Shyam at a commemorative event held at Marjing Polo Complex, organized by Sur Tarang of Tingri Awang Leikai.
The programme was graced by Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Waikhom Ibohal Singh, as Chief Guest, along with AIR Imphal’s approved artist Heisnam Raghumani Singh, Senior Broadcaster Chongtham Kamala, and AIR Imphal Programme Executive Heikhrujam Devendra. Several artists performed during the event, rendering Aheibam Shyam’s evergreen compositions.
Aheibam Bimolata, a close disciple of the late singer, also paid homage through an emotional musical tribute. Chief Guest Waikhom Ibohal Singh highlighted Aheibam Shyam’s contributions to Manipuri music, stating that his songs were full of wisdom, love, and cultural essence. He noted the gradual fading of traditional Manipuri music and emphasized the need for its preservation.
Senior Broadcaster Chongtham Kamala remarked that Aheibam Shyam’s talent, humility, and influence made him a unique figure in Manipuri music. She encouraged young artists to follow his path of dedication and authenticity.
