Tribal JAC to begin 48 hours total shut down from May 16 midnight

Imphal May 15: When the agitation demanding implementation of ILPS reached its peak at valley districts of the state Hill based organisations opposing the Bills is gearing up protest against any government measures to get assent of the 3 ILPS related Bills.
In a press communiqué,  Joint Action Committee Against Anti-Tribal Bills (JAC) today once more re-affirmed its stand to call 48 hours total shut down in Hill districts of the state.
“We would like to humbly request the cooperation of the general public in the call for Total Shutdown of all tribal territories of Manipur starting from the midnight of May 16, 2016 till the midnight of May 18, 2016 in protest against the decision of the “All Political Parties Meeting” to depute a team of politicians to urge the Union Government to give assent to the three unconstitutional anti-tribal bills by the Manipur State Assembly on August 31, 2015″, a press statement of the JAC said.
The JAc statement however stated that during the total shut down- medical services including medical emergencies and check-ups, water supply, media houses, postal service, telecom, electricity, airport pickup and drop, ongoing exams (both students and teachers/invigilators), marriage ceremonies and pre-planned conferences will be exempted.
